Book lovers events on holiday? Bring on the kids authors!FANCY meeting Jacqueline Wilson in Kos or Michael Morpugo in Menorca?

Okay, so it’s not currently a possibility unless you happened to bump into them while they were on holiday too, but a new development from Thomson conjures up all sorts of possibilities for the future.

The leading tour operator has teamed up with Headline Publishers and some of the biggest names in popular adult fiction, including Victoria Hislop, Sheila O’Flanagan, Penny Vincenzi and Lyn Andrews, are holding An Audience With events at Thomson Gold hotels.

Bestselling author Simon Scarrow and chicklit favourite Jill Mansell are also lined up to appear.

These exclusive Thomson Gold ‘An Audience with…’ events provide a unique setting for customers to meet best-selling novelists face to face, ask questions and buy signed copies of the books in resort.

Due to popular demand, Thomson says its already working with Headline to bring even more top authors to holiday resorts for summer 2011.

Go on, why not include some kids’ favourites in there too? Sounds like a good idea don’t you think?

Except Headline don’t do children’s books, Thomson Gold is aimed at adults-only and my girls are at an age where their author of choice would be limited to Stephenie Meyer.

And I can’t quite see her donning her flip-flops.

Thomson, it’s over to you!

We’re going 2 weekends in a row to Bath for Children’s Lit Festival for our daughter. Not sure if we’d go to another country.

I think the excitement may be a bit much if any authors were around when we were on holiday, I’d feel like I had to be on my best behaviour, well unless they thought it was okay to have a chat while I was sporting my shorts and had ice-cream down my front.
