Where’s your favourite family walk?

Wheres your favourite family walk? I RECENTLY contributed to MyChild.co.uk on favourite family walks. This was a really fun feature to work on, not least because my family absolutely love getting out and about.

You can read the resulting piece here.

I'd love to know if you agree with my choices and where else you would recommend.

Where's your most treasured place to visit for a bracing stroll together?

my favourite family beach walk is the Fossil Walk along the Dorset Coast at Charmouth. You go at low tide and the kids love searching for fossils on the shore. Magic. http://www.fossilwalks.com/familyfossilwalks.htm

one of our favourite family walks is the walk around the lake here – the Barcud Trail http://www.nantyrarian.com/walks.php
Its great because you can even stop and watch the kites being fed, or wander a bit off the path and find a wooded den area. They also do great theme evenings and both Bel and Car loved the Halloween walk we went to last year.

    Hi Linda
Our fav isn’t far from where we live.
It’s the Lickey Hills, in Rubery (I think) Birmingham and we go there in sunshine and in snow. It’s heavily wooden but lots of paths and stop offs and we’ve been taking the children there since they were babes in baby carriers and still go there now in our wellies!

We love the walk at Henngessbury Head in Dorset. The beach is long and has dramatic cliffs leaning over, the sands are white and the sea quite blue (unless it’s winter when it’s delightfully grey and stormy looking). At the end of the beach is a great cafe that does a mean fish soup (and kids meals) and by the little jetty with a titchy ferry crossing) there’s a car-train for tired feet including a trailer for pushchairs, bikes and grumpy husbands) that whisks you off back to the car park at the beginnning. It’s great in most weathers with good loos at both ends. As it were. Hope this helps

Hi, have probably missed the deadline but we love going to Epping Forest, as East Londoners it’s the nearest bit of ‘country’ we have.
