Photo blog: Crieff Hydro by Experimental Mum

Photo blog: Crieff Hydro by Experimental MumWE'VE had some lovely times at Crieff Hydro, the most family friendly hotel we’ve come across, writes Experimental Mum.

We always stay out of season  – and generally midweek  – as it's  both significantly cheaper and quieter.

Our daughter had her first riding lesson there and the kids' club is just fantastic.

We’ve stayed in the more basic, three star self catering chalets, and the everything-you-need-five-star-luxury houses.

I love the luxury of the lodges. They're so spacious and tidy, whereas the girls like the story book feel of the chalets.

And we never visit, without stopping to look at a "shooting stars" ceiling at least once.

For my step-dad’s 60th birthday, we hired two adjoining lodges alone with another lodge. Strangely I can’t find any photos of that visit…maybe we were too busy partying!

Photo blog: Crieff Hydro by Experimental MumI’ve also been on lovely "girly" weekends away with just my mum and sister – that was pure bliss.

More information and beautiful images about the surrounding area.

A huge thank you to Experimental Mum for sharing these treasured pictures! If you have any family snaps you'd like us to feature. Please get in touch!

Wow, this sounds like a fun place to go! Next time I’m in Perthshire….

I just wrote a blog post about this beautiful place and the “water cures” that made it so popular back in the day: http://www.picturebritain.com/2011/07/crieff-hydro-and-water-cure.html
